What is an AI law firm for startups?
It is a law firm, or a lawyer-led service, that uses AI to produce the documents a startup needs while a licensed lawyer reviews the result. Founders typically pay a known price per document or per month rather than an hourly bill.
The legal set-up varies, so check it before you sign. Arceus says it is a law firm whose engagements are handled by US-barred attorneys (source), Moritz describes itself as a law firm incorporated in California (source), and Compound Law calls itself a licensed law firm in Germany (source). Falcon delivers legal services through Falcon Law BV in Brussels (source). Soxton states that it is not a law firm and that licensed attorneys provide its legal services (source).

How to compare AI law firms for your startup
Check four things: where the firm is licensed, whether the price is fixed before work starts, who reviews the AI's draft, and how extra scope is charged. The firms' own pages answer most of these.
Jurisdiction matters first. Kyra Law works under the law of England and Wales (source), Compound Law in Germany and Falcon in Belgium, while most other firms here practise US law. Fellow says many of its clients are based in Europe and the US and are building toward a Delaware structure (source).
On price certainty, Moritz says you approve one price before work starts and it does not move (source). Arceus prices extra negotiation rounds from $500 each (source), so a long negotiation can cost more than the first review.
